That note found in Kurt Cobain‘s wallet at the Nirvana frontman’s death scene? Written by Courtney Love.

In an interview with The Guardian, Love admitted to penning the note, which was brought to light last month after the Seattle Police Department released new photos from the scene of Cobain’s suicide.

“Do you Kurt Cobain take Courtney Michelle Love to be your lawful shredded wife,” the handwritten note asked, “even when she’s a bitch with zits and siphoning all yr money for doping and whoring.”

The source of the note had been unknown until Love took ownership in the interview. “Obviously I wrote it – don’t you guys understand sarcasm?” she asked.

She also touched on the folks still looking long and hard into Cobain’s death after all these years, including those who think she might have played a role in it. ““It endangers me, and it endangers Frances [Bean Cobain, daughter],” Love said.

Meanwhile, Love has been prepping a new album of solo material. She recently released a music video for one of her newest tunes, “You Know My Name,” which came from a double single with “Wedding Day,” released last month.
