Coolio has made music with a lot of different people, but none of them were Kurt Cobain, to his apparent chagrin.
In an interview with SPIN, Coolio was asked to give his input on the former Nirvana frontman’s death. He explained that he’d always wanted to work with the legendary singer and guitarist, and expressed anger at his untimely death:
“Why you gotta do that before I do a song with you?” he asked. “I was mad at his people. They didn’t see that s–t coming? C’mon! Put the motherf—er on Thorazine. Dose him up so he can stay alive.”
That’s quite a statement from the oddly-braided rapper, known mainly in recent years for his appearances at Gathering of the Juggalos.
Coolio went on to offer his opinion on drug use in society.“You know, people who do drugs get so pressured by people who don’t that they get depressed,” he opined. “Society and their families make them feel like s–t about their habits. A lot of times they’re not hurting nobody. They don’t go out and cause trouble.”
One can only wonder what Courtney Love would have to say in response.
